Has anyone noticed that IG seemed to have lost a step? The army as a whole had a poor showing at both BoLScon and the recent NOVA Open. I used to hate to have to face IG across the table but now with my jump heavy BA army I am always looking forward to tearing them a new one. It seems like collectively we have finally figured out how to silence the big guns.
Thoughts ?

I think it's much like anything else, Steve; the moment an army gets predictable it's time to move on!
But yea, I've noticed the same think. The local IG player noticed it 4 months ago... and I didn't believe him at the time.

I'm McLoving it bro. Many people I know are still in the denial stage.

Honestly, it doesn't surprise me. The latest armies to come out have all had a very heavy assault vibe to it, and Guard definitely doesn't like assaulty codices...Dark Eldar will probably put a huge nail in the Guard coffin.
That is a great observation and I fully agree. It will be interesting to see some guard players switch over to dark eldar when the codex is released. Rumor has it that Phil Kelly wrote it so you know it will be top tiered.

Well as a Guard player myself, I know how hard it sucks to be assaulted. If Phil Kelly is indeed writing the book, we all have something to worry about.
Phil can write some truly sick codices !!

Aggressive Space Marines have always been the bane of the new IG book since it was released. Space Wolves and Blood Angels are more recent and people are finally learning how to build and run them. Aside from being the most points efficient codex in 40k, I think we're going to see SW dominate more and more precisely because they're such an excellent counter to mech IG.
I agree with you and as Granesh has noted dark eldar will probably shake things up (for everyone). I'll be very interested to see how hte new DE perform versus SW & BA. IG is still strong but like Danny said people are finally learning how to counter IG. My jump BA do very well versus IG due to all the flying melta weapons. There is a good batrep by Ben Mohile over at Dakka from the ETC tourney featuring his SM versus IG. He had some solid tactics and a bit of luck when he needed it, plus the IG player from Finland got conservative after going ahead by 3 KP.
