State of hte art fiascos

Do you think it is okay for the NFL to reverse a decision a week after a game has been played based upon replay? I don't. That's all I will say.

I actually know exactly what you are talking about GBF, and I have to say that I completely disagree with you.
The reason for this is the fact that your analogy is not the best one in this case. A better analogy to use is an Olympic athlete competing in the Olympic trials. If an Olympic athlete wins a race in the Olympic trials but is found to have cheated afterward, they will strip his title, his ticket to the Olympics, and he will be banished from the game for a certain length of time.
This is exactly what happened in this case. The person won because he was blatantly cheating. Video proof from two different sources provided hard evidence. The individual was then stripped of his title, his ticket and banned from further events.
Using the correct analogy this not only makes a lot of common sense, but hopefully it will deter other gamers from trying similar tactics. While I understand you point of view, I just fail to agree with it….
…this time.

I have watched the replay and did not see what I read. A friend of mine also watched the replay and said the same. To me this is an important issue and the analogy you use with the Olympics is valid but I think mine is too. I respect what you have said and value your opinion. My concern is twofold - first I think it could set a bad precedent. If you know someone is as they say shady then as a referee you should keep an eye on them.

Media to me can be a way to manipulate opinion. Everything should be on the square from the start and referees should be vigilant.

I began my career as a player in the northwest so I know some people out there. I keep my ear to the ground. I have seen people get burned. It's not fun. I would hate to see people carrying around video recording devices as a norm. It doesn't have to be that way.

That is something that I do agree with you about. Video Cameras. While I video record my games against my friends, at tournaments I take still shots so as not to interrupt the flow of the game.
I would hate to see video cameras become the norm because people can not trust one another.
I think that these videos and these incidents show two things:
1.) As event organizers, TO's need to keep an eye on players who have been known to be a bit "shady". To me this means large important tournaments like this need to have more referees.
2.) People need to speak up during the event itself.

While I have watched both videos and saw a lot of what I would consider cheating, I think that a referee should have been called over during the event.
That being said, I am glad that we were able to police our own. I guess that is the Marine in me.

Yo G!

I'm torn about this thing as well.

Hate to see cheaters win - hands down.

But with the insanity that runs around this hobby with anal retentive nerds - looking for some excuse for why they didn't win - other than they got beat. I could see this become a total cluster failure on the F drive.

I think it's up to the player to police himself in the game. Outside interference is just wrong - regardless. Maybe the most someone should do for a game they aren't involved in is go to a judge and tell them they might want to check out table x, and that's pushing it.
