Burn

"Don't look don't look" the shadows breathe
Whispering me away from you
"Don't wake at night to watch her sleep
You know that you will always lose
This trembling
Adored
Tousled bird mad girl"
But every night I burn
But every night I call your name
Every night I burn
Every night I fall again
"Oh don't talk of love" the shadows purr
Murmuring me away from you
"Don't talk of worlds that never were
The end is all that's ever true
There's nothing you can ever say
Nothing you can ever do"
Still every night I burn
Every night I scream your name
Every night I burn
Every night the dream's the same
Every night I burn
Waiting for my only friend
Every night I burn
Waiting for the world to end
"Just paint your face" the shadows smile
Slipping me away from you
"Oh it doesn't matter how you hide
Find you if we're wanting to
So slide back down and close your eyes
Sleep a while
You must be tired"
But every night I burn
Every night I call your name
Every night I burn
Every night I fall again
Every night I burn
Scream the animal scream
Every night I burn
Dream the crow black dream

Assassin - Part 6 - Templars Attack !!!

Warning klaxons erupted within the large holding bay screaming like maddened crowds at a public execution thirsty for brutality. The Librarian Ares flipped a series of glowing red runes on the command console silencing the beacons. "The Vain Glory is surounded on all sides by the xenos fleet. There will be no retreat which was never the Templar way. Prepare for battle." said Ares calmly as he donned his helm, the fitted neck piece sliding seamlessly into the top of tactical dreadnaught armor. The seals whirred in place isolating him from the contained atmosphere of the ship. Breathing in deep the Templar smelled the fresh scrubbed sir stored within his suit of dense armor. His left hand culled into a fist as Ares activated the snub nosed combi melta bolted onto his bulging forearm. Next he drew his force stave from against the wall gripping it tightly in both fists. He silently mouthed the ancient spell igniting the end of the staff which terminated into a sharp piece of molten rock. "While these vile xenos are not from the intended eldar craftworld we must settle for this tainted lot. If divine fortune should look upon us and the Emperor is willing this can serve as a preemptive strike."

A large group of Huscarls wearing terminator armor formed tightly around Ares in a circle of protection. The chieftain was armed with long lightning claws and brandished them striking the tips across each other in a raking motion drawing hot blue sparks. The others were armed with storm shields and thunder hammers. Their livery was bright lemon yellow armor plates and dull black helms, some crested with coarse black bristling horse hair. Rubies were embedded below their eye lenses simulating tear drops.

Teams of tactical veteran Marines broke into groups of combat squads one after another staged behind short armored gun walls for protection. Pointy spikes jutted out from the gun walls offering defense from xenos melee. Uraxes, an ancient Leviathan dreadnaught, was covered in pitch black plate with one pure white Templar cross embossed upon a pauldron jostled towards Ares and his bodyguard of Huscarls. One huge arm terminated into a huge siege drill while the other had a wrecking claw.

"I sense the eldar are drawn to the pod wherein lies Project Ark Angel, sealed in a deep autonomic state. The assassin is to be protected at all times." commanded Ares as he looked over to spy the dark pod. The terminus hatch was bolted shut and the viewing panes had gone deep umber cloaking the assassin within.

Suddenly the air grew turbulent and icy cold. Patches of hoar frost crept up the plasteel walls coating the protruding bolted studs. "Prepare to counter the invasion." Ares said. The confined atmosphere coalesced as a series of shimmering light waves began to take shape dancing across the floor. A small webway portal blossomed open as the Templars watched intently. Eldar Wraithguard began to spill out from the sudden opening, some brandishing axes while others carried long barreled Wraith Cannons. "Release the Phosphex." Ares gave the order. The heinous gas began to flow from nozzles mounted in the ceiling. Every Marine and terminator were wearing their helmets and the veterans all wore suits of hardened armor.

Uraxes crashed into the first group of Wraithguard before they could lift their guns to fire. The claw and drill easily cut through the tall constructs leaving nothing but smeared waste. Another portal opened behind the Ancient. Eldar Guardians armed with fusion guns unleashed a blazing salvo into its back side, however the ceramite plates held firm absorbing the short range attack. The Guardians then began to falter and stumble as the Phosphex ate away their exposed flesh. They could not help but scream in pain as their flesh melted away revealing muscle and bone. Ares watched the pain paint their faces as the Guardians tore off their helmets gulping in the venomous poison. They collapsed into a pool of dark sludge.

Firing their bolters with pinpoint accuracy one Veteran after another took aim targeting the weak points of the Wraithguards' psychoplastic Wraithbone armor. One Templar armed with a heavy bolter fired a salvo point blank into the Spirit Seer exploding its helmet like an over ripened piece of fruit. The Ghost Warriors seemed to stumble for a moment following the death of their mortal leader. The miniature rockets erupted from the Templar bolters struck home blasting apart limb and joints. Uraxes swept into the remainder catching one in its claw crushing the Wraithguard into a pulp.

More portals erupted releasing several waves of Howling Banshees. Their armor was intact upon entry into real space protecting them from the deadly Phosphex gas. Their scream was deafening as they quickly leapt across the holding bay circling around the Librarian and his Huscarls. Ares mouthed a spell drawing upon the warp. Bales of brilliant fire exploded from the tip of his stave momentarily blinding the Banshees. "Templars attack!" shouted the Librarian. The Chieftain was the first to strike shredding the Exarch with a violent twist. His claws elongated piercing through the weak armor plate. The Exarch split apart into many neat segments as the claws split her in twain. Thunder hammers came pummeling down smashing the rest into mush before even one Banshee could strike back.

Bolts of frigid lightning flashed across the holding bay as a group of eldar began to materialize. They were all tall and covered from head to toe in jet black suits of Wraithbone armor that sparkled under the dim light from the glow globes. Their helmets were long and erupted into tall crests studded with gemstones and bits of precious metal. Each Seer carried a staff. Bolters erupted again as they came solid but bounced off an invisible kine shield protecting them from the ranged attack. "I bring a warning." spoke the tallest Seer amplifying his voice via the warp. "The creature you protect will bring ruin to untold numbers if left to live. I can feel its vile life force flowing through the crate." The Farseer pointed his staff towards the pod. "We will dedicate every life from our craftworld if necessary to cancel it here and now. There is no escape for you Monkeigh."

"We will take every eldar life we can." Ares replied as he and his retinue slowly stepped towards the Seer Council. "That which you seek to destroy is incapable of any damage. You are on a fool's errand."

Here's a quick list of some Alan seds I've seen this week ...

* 30k will not be affected by the new 8th edition rule set.

* 30k will be seriously overhauled by the new 8th edition rule set.

* You can shoot units embarked in transports if they're special.

* You can't shoot special units embarked in transports.

* You can't shoot units embarked in special transports but can shoot special units embarked in special transports because well they are special.

* 30k was specifically designed to play against 40k armies.

* He doesn't like Alpha Legion any more now that Alpharius is clinically dead.

Assassin - Part 6 - Survivor

Corax swept down from the crumbling broken pillar embedding a claw into one of the last of the surviving Iron Warriors. The tips of the claw burst through the dirty power armor impaling the traitor. The middle claw tore into vertebrae severing the stem from the skull socket momentarily ending the abrupt pain. Blood and bile split from the traitor's lip steaming over broken teeth. "I can quickly end the pain if you tell me what I want to know." said the Raven Guard Primarch.

"There's nothing to tell you don't already know..." more blood and clumps of phlegm were coughed up by the prone Iron Warrior splattering his chest plate.

Corax ever so slightly withdrew the tip of the middle claw. The pain came crashing back and it felt staggering. "Wait... " he coughed as his body went into a series of violent spasms. Tears fell from his eyes blurring the traitor's vision. "What is it you want to know?" Corax inserted the tip again.

"There have reports of an Imperial agent acting alone. What can you tell me about it?'

The Iron Warrior felt one of his lungs collapsing and a heart had seized up. He ran his tongue over his broken teeth spitting out the last of the clots so he could breathe. "There was an assassin... " His breathing was extremely shallow now and dark spots began to form before his eyes.

"Go on." said the Primarch through gritted teeth.

"There were several attempts to catch the assassin but they all failed... the last attempt was just over a day ago." One of his eyes had gone blind as he involuntarily shivered impaled upon the long sharp claws. His mouth grew dry. "The assassin put them all to a sword it took from stone."

"Tell me more about the sword." growled Corax.

The traitor could hear the other two protracted claws slowly slicing through his lower body severing tendons and limbs like a pair of surgical drills. His smaller intestines split out like wet rope from a rupture in his broken power armor. "It was a black sword... that's what I was told." He began to spasm again, his body tearing itself apart trapped upon the entwined claws. He felt cold and numb now. "That's all I know."

"Do you feel fear?" Corax asked the dying traitor then he beheaded the Iron Warrior with his other set of matched claws. The skull made a clunking sound as it bounced along the broken flag stone coming to a stop beside the dead body of the other survivor. Corax brought down a boot sole hard crushing the skull into a bloody pulp.

Horus Heresy Campaign Report - Sons of Horus go to Southampton

I traveled over to the UK a couple of weeks ago to play in a Horus Heresy campaign played down in Southampton. I really wanted to see what it's like to play there and it was well worth the time and money to travel back and forth. Everyone was very friendly and I enjoyed every game.

The event was run by Escalation Painting and they did a fantastic job. You received a set of objective cards and a special trait for registering which were mailed to you. The objective cards were you're secondary goals each game and you could use the trait for one unit one turn each game. There were objective cards and traits for both loyalists and traitors which made it even more interesting. Some of the tables also had special missions which kept you on your toes. There were five rounds and the overall goal was for your side (loyalist or traitor) to score the most victory points over the course of the weekend.

I decided to bring my Sons of Horus first company which included the Warmaster himself, Horus. The army uses the Pride of the Legion rite of war and is composed of several Justearin terminator squads mounted in land raiders and a Spartan, some support characters and also special units such as Mortis Contemptor dreadnaughts and a rapier laser destroyer battery to round out my army list. Army lists were 3500 points and there were no restrictions. I saw several super heavies over the course of the weekend and there were plenty of other Primarchs as well.

Every army there was beautiful. The weekend turned out to be more about the narrative and making friends rather than a hard core competitive tournament like we are so used to in the US. This type of format is a lot more appealing for me and I see a lot of hobbyists headed in this direction. There was never any issues about rules or any disputes that I know of so it was pretty much a perfect weekend in many ways. All of the tables were awesome as well with plenty of nice looking terrain.

Game 1 vs. Imperial Fists

My first match was versus Imperial Fists lead by none other than Sigismund for the old school Templar theme. Imperial Fists just happen to be my favorite loyalist Legion and the army I am currently building so I know all their tricks. My opponent had a solid list composed of many tanks including several land raiders Proteus and the dreaded Typhon super heavy siege tank. I hid Horus and his retinue in their Spartan behind a big piece of terrain along with another squad of Justearin in a land raider Phobos along with the laser destroyer battery. The pictures below tell the story of the game... my dice were smoking hot and I was able to quickly pop one enemy tank after another over the course of the game. Sigismund lead a valiant charge versus Horus and company supported by a large squad of Breachers but the first Emperor's Champion was no match for the Warmaster. It was nice to win the first game then it was time for some lunch and cold British beer.

Game 2 vs. Blood Angels

My second match was versus Blood Angels fielding the special rite of war called Day of Revelation. As it turns out Blood Angels are my favorite Legion and I'm also very familiar with their rules as well. This rite of war perfectly suits Blood Angels featuring lots of deep striking assault squads. My opponent's army was beautifully painted with lots of really cool conversions and he ended up winning one of the highly coveted painting awards for his Warlord. This was an absolutely bloody brutal game with lots of melee throughout the course of the game. Horus was up to the challenge issuing a challenge to the non existent Sanguinius, Primarch of the Blood Angels. Many a good Marine died in his place for the Imperium and I ended the game with another win (2-0). This game was one of the special missions and the primary objective was to rescue a Seneschal and his crew so they could be returned to his Knight Titan. The first turn of the game Horus ordered his rapier battery to blow them to dust. One of the TOs asked me why and I said "Horus isn't here to rescue anyone, he's here to kill the enemy." I was awarded with a special objective card for this bit of our narrative.

Game 3 vs. Iron Hands
The final third game of the first day was versus a very tough foot slogging Iron Hands army lead by Ferrus Manus and included three Leviathan dreadnaughts plus a squad of six Castellax from the loyal side of the Mechanicum. I knew this would be a tough match and it was. Some of the Iron Hands characters are battle smiths and can restore lost hull points and even wounds. I lined up on my back line and kept firing lascannons and destroyer lasers into the ever advancing tide. I was really concerned about the Leviathans since they strike at initiative and can quickly mince terminators. I'd strip some hull points then the Iron Hands battle smiths would restore them again and again. I kept the majority of my fire power trained on the dreadnaughts and was finally able to one shot two of them right before they were ready to charge into my battle line. My Mortis Contemptor dreadnaughts were able to strip the last three hull points from the last Leviathan on Overwatch. This game you had to control sections of the battle field and it was looking like I'd lose since my entire army was parked on the back line most of the game. One land raider Phobos transporting a squad of Justearin survived a late game smash attack from the Castellax and managed somehow to make its way to the other side securing a victory the last turn of the game. Horus and his retinue then made short work of the six Castellax finishing them all of on a savage charge from their Spartan to secure the middle of the battle field. Ferrus Manus was very much alone towards the end of the game and another squad of Justearin ripped through a large squad of enemy tactical Marines to secure my side of the battle field. This in turn meant I was 3-0 at the end of the first day.

Game 4 vs. Ultramarines
My first game of the second day was versus Ultramarines lead by a Praetor. The army also had a full squad of Fulmentarus terminators and a Shadowsword super heavy tank. There was also a Siege Breaker tucked away with a quad mortar battery slinging barrages of the deadly Phosphex. You had to deploy in a triangle along a short edge of the table and there was not much terrain in the middle. Luckily I was able to seize the initiative... Horus and his crew surged ahead in their Spartan then flatted out racing straight at the enemy. Sure enough the Shadowsword destroyed the Spartan... the Warmaster and his retinue leapt out from the burning wreck straight ahead again. They were then hit by a Phosphex barrage from the quad mortars but were able to come out largely intact. The next turn Horus split off solo to hunt down the enemy Warlord while his retinue made short work of the Fulmentarus. The Shadowsword then one shot Horus only to be destroyed by my pair of outflanking Mortis Contemptors the following turn. The quad mortars rained Phosphex down upon the large squad of Justearin again but to no avail... they were gutted as well the following turn. It was then a simple matter of chasing down the Ultramarine tactical squads racing forward in their rhinos in a lost attempt to reach my deployment zone. So I was 4-0 going into the final fifth round. I've never lost with this army and wanted to continue the streak.

Game 5 vs. Blood Angels
The last game was versus another Blood Angels force also featuring the Day of Revelations rite of war. This army featured a Warhound Titan that was also destroyed by my outflanking Mortis Contemptors. The ensuing explosion went super critical and the gigantic blast marker just missed Horus and his retinue by less than an inch! The only survivor on the enemy side was a lone Fire Raptor tasked with reporting the battle upon its return to their orbiting battle barge. Power armor seems to be not much of a match versus terminator armor and my second day ended with a perfect 5-0 record versus the loyalists.

Best Units
The Mortis Contemptors and laser destroyer battery always pulled their weight versus enemy super heavies and flyers. Obviously Horus and his posse was my best unit slaying many loyalist enemies over the course of the campaign. I was hoping to see how the Warmaster would have fared versus Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves but that battle will have to be fought another day. I did happen to see him versus a supped up Magnus the first day... there were lots of amazing battles for everyone there and plenty of other stories to be told.

In conclusion I'd recommend attending a campaign if you're into the Horus Heresy. You won't be disappointed!

A Forest

Come closer and see
See into the trees
Find the girl
If you can
Come closer and see
See into the dark
Just follow your eyes
Just follow your eyes
I hear her voice
Calling my name
The sound is deep
In the dark
I hear her voice
And start to run
Into the trees
Into the trees
Into the trees
Suddenly I stop
But I know it's too late
I'm lost in a forest
All alone
The girl was never there
It's always the same
I'm running towards nothing
Again and again and again and again

Back Stabbing at Paradox

Paradox was my first Facebook group for Horus Heresy. I was one of the two original creators. The other admin decided to elevate a local to admin after many requests from him. This all happened over five years ago. What I didn't know is that the new admin systematically eliminated the moderators and other original admin. He then eventually stripped my admin rights then last week I was banned from the group. I can't help but find this extremely hypocritical because the reason he told other members he stripped my admin rights is because I supposedly banned.

I have since moved on and created a new and popular FB group for 30k. I post this as a vocal protest to my rights that were violated by Ishmael DeLuna.

So I was finally able to get a reply from a moderator there why I was banned:
